Sue Scheff: Here’s Help Hotline

It is National Make a Difference to Children Month and sadly some kids start substance abuse at an early age.  Talking to your children early about the risks and dangers of drug and alcohol abuse is critical.

The Children’s Trust has been set up in Florida to help parents with at-risk children and teens, as well as helping parents with raising kids today.

Founded in 1968, Here’s Help has become one of Miami-Dade County’s premiere providers of residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment, annually serving 800 adolescents and young adults starting at the age of 13. Funded by local, state and federal contracts, Here’s Help has excelled as a substance abuse treatment provider and is lauded by the Departments of Corrections, Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of Children and Families (DCF), and Probation and Parole for its treatment, educational and preventive services.

Here’s Help also offers an informational radio show about pressing issues in our community such as substance abuse. To cater to South Florida’s diversity, The Here’s Help Show covers community topics that are unique to Miami-Dade and Broward Counties, and focuses the show’s programming to highlight issues & guests that are of interest to those listeners.

Their website offers resources such as legal aid, vital records, Florida Medicaid and much more, with their helpful links page and their hotlines page offers numbers for rape crisis center, suicide hotline, victims of crimes, runaway switchboard and more.
